Horus Academy offers private drum lessons for children, teens, and adults at our West Roxbury and Needham locations. Students of all skill levels can master the techniques of drumming to perform or play in a band.
How qualified are teachers here?
Our staff have graduated from prestigious universities, with the majority of our staff being Berklee College of Music alumni.
Do I need to bring my own drum set?
We have instruments in our buildings. We also offer renting of instruments if you want to practice on your own time.
What are lessons like?
Drum students start with the fundamentals: stick bounce and rebound control, proper seating and hand/foot positioning, and basic rhythmic patterns. From there, students build up to more advanced rhythms and grooves. Sight reading and rhythm exercises are a core part of every lesson, sharpening timing and the ability to read drum notation accurately.
What skill level or age do I need to learn drumming?
Our lessons are perfect for all ages and skill levels. We will work with you in your first lesson to find the best plan of study for you.
Where are lessons located?
We have locations in 222 Spring Street, West Roxbury and 220 Reservoir Street, Needham Heights. If you live near these locations or the Greater Boston Area, we have the right lessons for you.
Are there any performance opportunities?
We hold galas in the summer and winter, and we have students perform for guests there. It is the perfect opportunity to showcase what you have learned!
